Tax credit details • Extends the $8,000 first time Homebuyers Tax Credit and creates a new $6,500 tax credit for homeowners buying a new home by July 1, 2010. • Homebuyers with contracts as of April 30 qualify for the credit so long as they close the transaction within 60 days. • The full credit is a vailable to homebuyers with incomes of up to $125,000 for a single return or $225,000 for a joint return. • Not available for homes costing over $800,000. • Homebuyers who already own a home are only eligible if the home they are leaving has been used as a principal residence for five consecutive years in the last eight. • Provides authority to the IRS to provide greater oversight while processing the return and requires that the taxpayer claiming the credit be 18 or older. • Members of the military, military intelligence and foreign service who are on qualified extended official duty are not subject to the recapture fee and individuals who have been deployed overseas for 90 days or more in 2008 or 2009 can claim the credit through April 30, 2011.

Tim Stoops Recognized with Distinguished Service Award In tribute to his real estate and community leadership, Tim Stoops, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Towne and Country Realty, has been recognized with the Distinguished Service Award from the Ashland Board of Realtors. The award is presented to a deserving board member each year. Stoops has 15 years experience in real estate, and has helped hundreds of Ohio families buy and sell their homes. He has been very active on the Board, serving as President in 2006, as a Director four different times, and on numerous committees. Stoops now serves on the Board's MLS and Professional Standard committees. "At RE/MAX, we measure our success through customer satisfaction," said Terri Bohannon, RE/MAX Regional Vice President, RE/MAX Central and Northern Ohio. "Tim's customers are his number one concern. It's wonderful to see him recognized by his peers for his leadership and hard work." RE/MAX Towne and Country Realty is a family business, Tim and his wife Jennifer are co-owners and partners. Both were born and raised in Ashland County, and are graduates of Hillsdale High School. They have four children, and find their schedules crammed with school activities and sports, not to mention the hours Tim spends working with the Ashland area community development board.
